Florida Poly alum completing NASA internship, looking forward to software development career

by Margaret Willard

Andy Ponce earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science in December, expecting to immediately move into a career. But fate had different plans as the young grad was offered a once-in-a-lifetime internship with NASA.

Ponce is working on lunar simulation software development, the Moon Tycoon V2.

“It’s a virtual reality simulation and the idea is you’re on the lunar surface and you can control the rover, move it around, and teleport to different places on the surface,” Ponce said.

The school is spotlighting Ponce as part of National Internship Awareness Month.
