Hillsborough Sheriff’s deputy rescues stranded father/daughter pair after jet ski mishap

by Margaret Willard

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office rescued a father and daughter who did not return after a jet ski outing.

The father’s girlfriend alerted the authorities and Deputy Kevin Reich sprang into action.

Good Samaritans offered to take Deputy Reich out on their boat to search, and they were able to locate the missing boaters around 40 minutes later. The two were treading water for almost an hour.

“We are relieved that they were found safe and without any injuries. It is scary to imagine what could have happened had they not been wearing their life jackets,” Sheriff Chad Chonister said.
