‘Directions in Disguise’ mural guides in downtown Tampa

by Margaret Willard

A new street mural in downtown Tampa won’t just offer an aesthetic splash, it’ll also help Riverwalk users find their way.

Waves and swirls of purple and yellow will fill the intersection at Cass and Tyler streets, where 12 triangles, designed to look like arrows, will signal pedestrians to cross the street to continue along Riverwalk.

The location between the Straz Center and Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is often confusing because travelers must walk away from the river and use a sidewalk to continue onto Riverwalk.

The Tampa Downtown Partnership is funding the mural, which was completed over the weekend.
