Last month, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was participating in a forestry/Bambi Bucket training, but what started as a training exercise turned to real life action when a fire broke out near Durant High School.
Crews attended to the fire from the training and, with partners, were able to douse the flames.
Bambi Buckets are specialized devices carried by helicopter for aerial firefighting. HCSO worked with the Florida Forestry Service, Tampa Police, the Florida National Guard, Citrus County and others to train on proper Bambi Bucket usage. The training comes as the spring and summer wildfire season approaches in Florida.
