USF aging studies student Rio Tate, a U.S. Air Force veteran, is being awarded a 2022 Tillman Scholarship through the Pat Tillman Foundation.

Tate is among 60 U.S. service members, veterans and military spouses to earn this recognition. He is the only student from a Florida public university in this year’s class.

The Tillman Scholars program supports military members and families by investing in education and professional development.

“I’m just filled with gratitude and happiness with being named a 2022 Tillman Scholar,” Tate said. After graduating, Tate plans to work for an organization that’s focused on reducing dementia.
