Tampa General to establish first proton therapy center in Tampa Bay

Tampa General announced this week a new partnership to build a proton therapy center in Tampa Bay.

What is proton therapy? Dr. Richard Tuli, Chief of Radiation Oncology at USF Health and Tampa General Hospital, describes it as, “the most cutting edge and advanced form of radiation treatment for cancer patients.”

This therapy can effectively destroy cancerous tumors while reducing the likelihood and severity of side effects. And, you’ll soon be able to find it in Tampa Bay. The groundbreaking is scheduled for early 2022, and it will be the first of its kind on the West Coast of Florida.
