Join the Tampa Bay History Center for an evening filled with “inspiration, recognition and cultural celebration” Feb. 23 at 5:30 p.m. The third Annual Black History Month Reception will showcase guest speaker Sen. Arthenia Joyner, an attorney (and the first Black woman to practice law in Hillsborough County), civil rights activist and 10-year member of the Senate (her father, Henry Joyner, owned the Cotton Club).
The legendary Rev. Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr., a leader in the Civil Rights Movement, will present an award recognizing a person who has made significant contributions to preserving and promoting Black history. Tickets are $75.
