Footage captured by Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office body-worn cameras showcases deputies’ courageous rescue of a five-year-old girl with autism from a dense, swampy area on Monday evening.
At 5:10 p.m. on Feb. 26, the HCSO’s Aviation Unit responded to Windbrush Drive in Tampa after the girl wandered from her home. Utilizing thermal imaging, aviation spotted her navigating through dense foliage and marshland.
With imminent danger near water, aviation directed deputies to her location.
Deputies found her unharmed.
