Patients with underlying conditions and compromised immune systems can get a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Tampa General Hospital facilities starting this week.
“The studies were indicating that a third dose would make a difference,” Dr. Peggy Duggan, TGH chief medical officer, told WFLA. “Patients who are on chemotherapy, patients who’ve had a transplantation [are eligible].”
Those on medication for other diseases that also diminish your immune system, like steroids, are also eligible. The CDC recommends a third shot for people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised. Consult with your doctor to determine what is best for you.
