Data nerds love the U.S. Census Bureau, and it’s a treasure trove of July 4 stats.

Notably, America imports $330 million worth of fireworks from China, and only exports $10 million, with Israel buying the most (approximately $3 million). We import $4 million in flags, and export $800,000 (mostly to Mexico).

Another interesting political factoid comes from Harvard: Researchers found a Fourth of July without rain during childhood shifts adult views and voting in favor of Republicans; it’s highly persistent throughout life, and originates at an early age. Rain-free Fourths also make people more likely to identify as Republicans.
