Rays thinking big as trade deadline approaches

by The 100 Companies

The Rays are now focused on the MLB trade deadline on Aug. 2, and history suggests they will be bold.

But are they bold enough to get Washington’s Juan Soto? He’s the big prize as the Nationals said they would entertain trade offers after he rejected a 14-year, $440 million contract proposal from the team.

Rays MLB.com beat writer Adam Berry opened that possibility.

While conceding it’s a longshot, Berry wrote, “it’d be wrong to count out the Rays entirely.” They think big, and they were in the running for Max Scherzer last year and Freddie Freeman this spring.
