Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik has made some hefty donations to the two leading Democratic candidates in the 2022 Governor’s race.
The donations were made through Vinik’s private investment firm known as America Investment Holdings LLC. Vinik’s firm contributed $16,000 to Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried‘s political committee and $41,000 to U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist‘s political committee.
In a poll among Democratic voters released last week, Fried led Crist with 36% support to 33%, with 31% still undecided. However, Crist seems to perform better against incumbent Gov. Ron DeSantis, with recent polling showing Crist leading 57% to DeSantis’ 43%.
