Craft Beer With an Aviation Twist

by

The newest addition to Tampa Bay’s ever-expanding craft beer scene comes with a history lesson.

Nestled in St. Petersburg’s Woodlawn neighborhood, Flying Boat Brewing Co. gives a nod to the city’s rich aviation history. The brewery’s name is an ode to the Benoist XIV — the winged airboat piloted by Tony Jannus in the world’s first scheduled flight, which flew from downtown St. Petersburg to Tampa on Jan. 1, 1914.

Stop by for an aptly named core-style brew, like the roasty Hangar Brown or crisp Whitted Wheat, and you may leave with a newfound interest in all things flight.
