The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office’s “Operation Red, White and Blue” was a success.

The initiative focused on DUI/BUI enforcement to guarantee a secure and pleasant Fourth of July celebration for everyone involved.

“While this country’s independence is certainly a cause for celebration, there is never an excuse for drinking and driving,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said.

Deputies patrolled Hillsborough County roads and waterways to ensure driver and boater safety. The results of the operation – as of Wednesday, July 5 – include 204 traffic stops, an overwhelming 38 DUI arrests, 14 citations issued, 88 vessel stops, three BUI arrests and eight marine citations.
