Carl Lavender, Jr. retires after 48-year nonprofit career

Carl Lavender, Jr. retired from the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg at the end of June after a 48-year career in nonprofit service.

Lavender joined the foundation five years ago, serving as Chief Equity Officer before moving into the role of interim co-CEO in 2022.

During his tenure with the Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg, Lavender helped guide community investments and planning to ensure alignment with the foundation’s mission of racial and health equity for Pinellas County residents.

He served as an invaluable resource for staff and the community, seeking effective, impactful ways to build a racial equity movement.
