The Rays’ first-round playoff matchup is set. They will be in Cleveland Friday to start a best two-out-of-three Wild Card series against the American League Central champion Guardians.

It will prolong a nine-game road trip that ended the regular season.
If they prevail in Cleveland, the Rays will face the Yankees in the Division Series. That is a best-of-five with the first two games at New York. In that instance, the Rays would have spent 18 consecutive days on the road.
This is the first year of Major League Baseball’s new playoff format.
