As part of 38 appointments statewide, Gov. Ron DeSantis has named eight Tampa Bay area attorneys to judicial nominating commission posts.
That includes Charbel Barakat to the Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission, as well as appointments to regional judicial nominating commissions: Lara Tibbals for the Second Court of Appeal; Kara Hardin, Robert Eckard and Gordon Oldham IV for the Sixth Judicial Circuit; and Andrew Mayts Jr., Candace Rick and Diego Pestana for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.
The attorneys hail from across the region, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater Beach and Zephyrhills.
Other appointments included Central, South and Northern judicial districts.
