The Cross Bay Ferry, a seasonal shuttle that runs November-April between downtown St. Pete and downtown Tampa, could expand service in 2024 to operate year-round.
The expansion requires approval from the Hillsborough and Pinellas County Commissions as well as the cities of Tampa and St. Petersburg.
Hillsborough will consider the new contract with HMS Ferries on June 16, with other boards to follow.
The ferry has been in seasonal operation since 2018 and has proved a popular entertainment transportation option. It has also served as an occasional choice for transportation to and from Tampa Bay Lightning and Rays games.
