Memorial Day events honor those who served

Memorial Day means more than an extended holiday weekend. It’s a time to remember those who died while serving in our country’s armed forces.

Three ways to observe:

– On Sunday, May 27, the Tampa Bay Rays recognize Armed Forces veterans with special ticket prices and giveaways.

– On Monday, May 28, Memorial Day ceremonies are held at Veterans’ Monument Park in Bradenton, Bay Pine National Cemetery in St. Petersburg and Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

– The City of Treasure Island hosts a parade along Paradise Boulevard on Monday, May 28, which concludes with a ceremony at the Treasure Island Community Center.
