Gov. DeSantis appoints Ronald Ficarrotta to Mental Health and Substance Abuse Commission

Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed Tampa’s Ronald Ficarrotta to the State Commission on Mental Health and Substance Abuse.

The commission was created in 2021 by the Florida Legislature to examine and improve the mental health and substance abuse services in the state.

Ficarrotta serves as the Chief Judge for Florida’s 13th Judicial Circuit. He has previously served as a Hillsborough County Judge and an Assistant State Attorney.

He also created the circuit’s Mental Health Court and Juvenile Mental Health Court, overseeing both. He earned his bachelor’s from the University of Florida and juris doctor from South Texas College of Law.
