ADA Isn’t Enough

by

It is said the disabled community is the only minority group that anyone can join at anytime. Yet, many of our city’s places still fail to be inclusive of those with a disability.

Designing to the Americans with Disability Act isn’t enough to create usable spaces for all due to its limited code. However, following Universal Design, a voluntary set of design principles, is more apt to create an experience where no one feels physically or psychologically segregated.

The seven Universal Design principles include establishing tolerance for error, creating spaces that require low physical effort and designing simple, intuitive features.
