Florida is adding a new sales tax holiday to its repertoire this year.
“Freedom Week” runs July 1-7. It will give Floridians a sales tax break on concert tickets, admission fees, bicycles, gym memberships and a slew of outdoor gear, from sunglasses to safety flares.
Lawmakers say the holiday is aimed at shaking off pandemic-era cabin fever over the Fourth of July weekend.
The sales tax holiday is projected to reduce state and local tax revenues by about $55 million. It was part of a tax-cut package that also includes an upcoming back-to-school sales tax holiday, which starts July 31.
