Hernando County is more than its mermaids

Hernando County is well known for the Weeki Wachee mermaids. But Tampa’s northern neighbor offers much more than a single, popular tourist destination.

For an easy day trip, consider:

– Visiting Sweetfields Farm for an Instagram-worthy photo in its sunflower maze.

– Climbing the observation tower at Withlacoochee State Forest.

– Checking out the fried chicken at the top-rated Yelp restaurant, Steph’s Southern Soul Restaurant.

These attractions, plus the lower cost of living, are helping Hernando County grow. Builders are adding between 7,500 and 10,000 new homes, plus new commercial spaces across the county to meet the growing demand.
