Meet these local ‘first ladies’

The Carter G. Woodson African American Museum in St. Petersburg annually honors local “first ladies” in African American history who broke barriers. These women will be honored on April 28.

– Patricia Wright, first African American female Director of School Operations for the Pinellas County Schools.

– Sharon Welch, the city of St. Petersburg’s first African American and female IT Systems Development Manager.

– U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Jeanine Menze, the USCG’s first female African American aviator.

– Nadine Smith, the first female African American leader of Equality Florida.

– Bridgette Heller, first African American female President of Johnson & Johnson Global Baby Business.

– Terri Lipsey Scott, Woodson Museum
