Nearly a quarter of Florida residents eschew hurricane prepping, and even more would disregard warnings to evacuate, new AAA polling found.
Twenty-three percent of Floridians aren’t collecting nonperishable food, water and other useful materials in case a storm strikes their area.
Another 27% said they’d ignore evacuation warnings. Of those who would, 64% said they’d only leave if the approaching tempest was a Category 3 or stronger.
The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season began this month. Experts predict 17 to 25 named storms will hit the region by Nov. 30 and that at least four will be Category 3 or stronger.
