John Dingfelder resigns from Tampa City Council amid public records lawsuit

by The 100 Companies

John Dingfelder has resigned from his seat on the Tampa City Council.

The resignation was part of a settlement reached Friday between Dingfelder and Stephen Michelini, a local development consultant, in response to a public records lawsuit. As part of the settlement, Dingfelder also wrote a letter of apology to Michelini.

Dingfelder previously said he thought the suit was retaliation for his stance against overdevelopment in Tampa. The settlement includes stipulations preventing him from speaking to the press and requiring him to hand deliver his resignation letter to Mayor Jane Castor, Council Chair Orlando Gudes and City Attorney Gina Grimes.
