One of the best Christmas gifts I’ve received was a fresh fir wreath. Arriving in early December, it gave a burst of festive fir scent every time I opened my front door.
It was a treat because fresh fir isn’t found in Florida. Companies like Fernhill Holly Farms in Astoria, Oregon, will ship wreaths throughout the country. The family-owned farm has been providing holly and holiday greens since 1955.
To DIY, ask tree suppliers for leftover cut greens. But know it won’t keep as long as professionally arranged wreaths, which are typically dipped in sealers to help with preservation.
