New warehouses speed up shipping

by
Urban warehouses

Retail giants like Ikea, Walmart and Amazon know online shoppers want their orders right away. So to meet consumer demand, developers are repurposing spaces and building new warehouses in urban areas to more quickly reach households.

In one such warehouse move, Ikea recently bought a fulfillment center in Lakeland, which allows the brand to have products on a customer’s doorstep in a matter of hours.

Meanwhile, Walmart and Amazon both have 1 million-square-foot warehouses in and near the Tampa Bay area, reaching Florida customers faster than ever.

Far-away delivery dates are becoming a thing of the past.
