What’s fact and what’s fiction?

It’s getting tougher and tougher to distinguish between real and fake headlines. And as teens spend more time on the internet, some are becoming part of the solution instead of spreading inaccurate news.

To help this along, global journalism education nonprofit Poynter Institute has created a project called MediaWise to address this issue with teens. MediaWise’s mission: teach 1 million teenagers how to sort fact from fiction online.

“NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt recently joined MediaWise as its first ambassador, teaching teens how to be smarter news consumers. Visit Poynter’s website to see how you can support the project.
