Make tracks to Cracker Country at the Florida State Fairgrounds on Sept. 28 for the chance to explore rural Sunshine State history free of charge.
Step back in time and experience life at the turn of the 20th century. Participate in pioneer chores like churning butter and doing laundry with an old-fashioned washboard. Tour the historic Carlton House (1885), General Store (1891) and Okahumpka Train Depot (1898). Better yet, take a seat in the one-room schoolhouse and join in a lesson.
Hands-on activities include dipping beeswax candles and twistin ropes ($2 each, cash only).
Even meet a cow hunter … whatever that is!
