Whether it’s a company presentation or a Sunday prayer, speaking to a crowd can be terrifying. Here are four helpful tools:
– On an index card: Develop a five-point outline – beginning, three main points and closing.
– In the mirror: Practice. Look for bad posture, nervous expressions and ticks like touching your hair.
– On your phone: The recording app captures your practice. Cut verbal crutches like, “um,” and, “as I was saying.” Trim dead ends and distractions.
– In your hand: If you can’t use notes, use fingers. Write a one-word reminder on each finger corresponding to your outline.
High five!
