The U.S. Department of Environmental Protection has awarded $1.8 million in grant funding to Port Tampa Bay through its Clean Ports Program to study emissions reduction strategies for port infrastructure that could, over time, support zero-emission operation.

The port will use funding to develop air emissions inventory and to inform its emissions reduction strategy. Funding will also help engage stakeholders on long-term planning.

“This funding will allow us to establish a roadmap for electrification and decarbonization of the port in partnership with our cruise line partners and cargo terminal operators,” Port Tampa Bay President and CEO Paul Anderson said.
