The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority is temporarily waiving its fees on bus service, HARTPlus and HARTFlex through Oct. 21 to provide free transportation to the local community as recovery from Hurricane Milton continues.
The agency made the decision to go fare-free due to need for emergency transportation, aid for displaced residents and support for local students.
The agency hopes that by lifting fares, residents’ financial pressures will be partially alleviated and students can continue their education. The decision will also allow residents who may have lost personal transportation as a result of the storm to continue accessing emergency services.
