Orlando Magic co-founder Pat Williams announced plans Tuesday for a $1.7 billion baseball stadium near Sea World that could be a possible home for the Tampa Bay Rays, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
The plan would include a 45,000-seat stadium, retail shops, restaurants, office space, hotels and a convention center on a 35-acre plot.
Williams told the Business Journal the plan could draw tourists to baseball games. Approximately 80 million tourists visit Orlando annually, a number that is expected to grow. Williams said drawing even just 2% of those could provide an attractive fan base for the Rays.
