Pinellas County Commissioners gave the (almost) final approval to the plan to build the Rays a new stadium.
Despite the cost there is the larger question of what kind of community we want to be.
Having the Rays wouldn’t have seemed possible before the much-mocked decision to build Tropicana Field. But St. Pete today is different than in 1986 when officials voted to build the Trop without a team. St. Pete has proven it is a proper place for a major league franchise.
The Rays have already made families’ memories, and will make more.
Good deal.
