One-thousand five hundred. That’s the number of hearts beating as a result of successful heart transplants performed by the Tampa General Hospital’s Transplant Institute.
TGH announced this milestone in April – National Donate Life Month.
“Our 1,500th heart transplant underscores our position as a national leader in life-saving organ transplants and helps to further our vision to be the safest and most innovative academic health system in America,” said Dr. Lucian Lozonschi, associate director of the TGH Transplant Institute.
Since its inception in 1974, the TGH Transplant Institute has performed over 12,000 organ transplants including, heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas and more.
