Florida to prosecute would-be Donald Trump assassin

by Sally Schroder

Ryan Wesley Routh will finally face state charges for trying to shoot President Donald Trump on his West Palm Beach golf course last year.

Attorney General James Uthmeier says Routh will be charged for attempted first-degree murder and terrorism. Routh also faces federal charges for being a felon in possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

After Routh’s attempt on his life, Trump called for Florida to investigate the case, arguing that he trusted Florida more than the FBI under then-President Joe Biden.

Uthmeier this month blamed the Biden administration for “stonewalling” Florida’s attempt to probe Routh’s actions.
