Tampa Electric (TECO) is shining a light on its lineworkers, the men and women who keep our lights on, in observance of Lineworker Appreciation Month in April.
A company-produced video spotlights stories from some of its pole-climbing heroes, who sometimes climb 150-feet above the ground to keep the power on for customers.
Lineworkers also carry at least 30 pounds of equipment and must wear fire-retardant clothing, even in the heat of summer, to keep safe from various occupational hazards.
Additionally, many lineworkers must travel far from home to assist other areas restoring power when disaster strikes and causes widespread outages.
