The up and down saga of the Rays’ search for a new stadium has taken a positive turn. Speaking with reporters before the team’s opening day game against Baltimore, principal owner Stu Sternberg sounded upbeat about the subject.
“It seems that people are interested and want us to be here,” Sternberg said. “I’m obviously interested and want to be here. … I would like to think that at points this year, we’ll be able to get at it, and I’m highly optimistic.”
Tampa and St. Petersburg remain in play for the stadium, which Sternberg said will also have a fixed roof.
