The University of South Florida’s vision of an on-campus football stadium at the Sycamore Fields site received a $5 million boost from Jeff and Penny Vinik.
“An on-campus stadium at USF will be a game-changer, literally and figuratively, for the university and our entire Tampa Bay community,” said Jeff Vinik, owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning and co-developer of Water Street Tampa.
Vinik said the donation was inspired by the recent $5 million gift from longtime USF supporters Carol and Frank Morsani. The latest update from the stadium planning committee shows the stadium will be completed in 2026 or 2027.
