U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist has announced $530 million to upgrade and expand local transit in Florida for Fiscal Year 2022, including $50 million for the Tampa Bay area.
The funding will be provided through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law from November 2021, and is in addition to the $19.6 million Crist helped secure as a member of the House Appropriations Committee for Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) to support the expansion of their fleet of electric buses.
This federal investment will allow local transit authorities to buy new buses and railcars, address repair backlogs, modernize fleets and start reducing carbon emissions.
