Nationally renowned architect Mario Gooden is leading the design of the expansion of St. Petersburg’s Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum, partnering with St. Petersburg’s Wannemacher Jensen Architects.
Gooden is principal of Huff + Gooden Architects in New York and teaches at Columbia University.
His firm has designed the California African American Museum’s addition in Los Angeles and the Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta. The firm has also designed the Visual and Performing Arts Library in Brooklyn, the renovation of the Gerald R. Ford Federal Building and Courthouse in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and other high-profile projects.
