Finding success through compromise

by
Janet Echelman

In B2’s public engagement work, we listen to all sides of an issue. And if there’s an impasse, working toward compromise is a worthy goal.

Such was the case with the Janet Echelman outdoor sculpture planned for St. Petersburg’s Pier District. Working with the artist and Waterfront Parks Foundation President Phil Graham, St. Petersburg City Council’s Gina Driscoll and city staff found an agreeable location that easily won approval by a 7-1 council vote.

B2’s work included coordinating support through an email campaign, educational video, media relations and mobilizing supporters to attend key council sessions and voice their opinions.
