The Buccaneers opened their quest for a second-consecutive Super Bowl championship by routing the Philadelphia Eagles 31-16 Sunday in the opening round of the NFL playoffs.
Tampa Bay opened up a 31-0 lead before the Eagles scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns.
However, the victory was potentially costly. Pro Bowl offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs suffered an ankle injury during the team’s opening drive of the game. He tried to return but lasted only a couple plays before leaving.
The Bucs will be at home again on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, who defeated Arizona Monday.
