Tampa Bay Lightning Head Coach Jon Cooper has signed to extend his contract three more years, serving through the 2024-2025 season, the team’s general manager, Julien BriseBois, announced Monday.
“Unequivocally, Coop is the best person for the job,” said BriseBois.
Cooper became the ninth head coach in Lightning franchise history in 2013 and is now the NHL’s longest tenured bench boss. Cooper guided the Bolts to their second-consecutive Stanley Cup Championship in 2021 after Tampa Bay defeated Montreal.
“My family and I love the organization and being a part of the Tampa Bay community, it is our home,” Cooper said.
