The University of South Florida football team opens its season this Thursday at North Carolina State.
The Bulls had a 1-8 season last year, but there were several mitigating factors. COVID-19 led to the cancellation of spring practice after one workout. That put the new coaching staff behind on evaluating their players. Summer practice also was shortened by the virus.
Sophomore Cade Fortin is the starting quarterback. He played only two games last year before a shoulder injury ended his season.
The game will be televised on the ACC Network.
USF’s home opener is Sept. 11 against the Florida Gators.
