Hillsborough Commissioners consider vape sale restrictions

by The 100 Companies

Florida banned vape sales to those under 21 in 2021, about two years after Hillsborough County passed a local ban. Now, the board is considering a new ordinance banning the sale of e-cigarettes within 500-feet of a school.

Commissioners unanimously agreed to Commissioner Michael Owen’s motion to direct staff to research such an ordinance.

Too many convenience stores that sell vape products are within close proximity to Hillsborough Schools, the board argued, noting that provides easy access to teens and fuels an already rampant youth vaping problem that, according to surveys, includes use among nearly 19% of Hillsborough County students.
