Tampa Mayor Jane Castor made it official Wednesday, officially launching her 2023 re-election bid at Hotel Haya in Ybor City.
Local elected officials, community leaders, friends and family were on hand to celebrate the first-term Mayor’s next election.
Castor filed for re-election Nov. 28. So far, she faces two candidates – Jeff Godsell and Belinda Noah, both registered Republicans. Castor is a Democrat, those Tampa’s municipal races are non-partisan.
Castor was first elected in 2019, defeating the late philanthropist David Straz in Tampa’s costliest mayoral contest. Straz spent nearly $5 million, most of it his own money, while Castor ran a $1.2 million campaign.
