Imagine seeing tiny organisms in the water lighting up like fireflies. I experienced this phenomenon in waters near Orlando, where bioluminescent microscopic algae live. Organisms with bioluminescence have the ability to naturally emit light.
There are only a few places in the world where one can see bioluminescent marine life, and luckily, three are near us: BK Adventure and A Day Away Kayak Tours in Titusville and Adventures in Florida in Orlando.
The height of the bioluminescence kayaking season is during the summer when there’s a new moon. Most tours start after 8 p.m. and cost $50 to $75.
