Music Sets the Pace in Cycling

by

Music can make or break a workout. Amanda Palumbo, who teaches cycling at Xtreme Fitness and Cycling Studio, keeps her audience engaged by creating a new playlist for each class.

Sometimes it’s themed for a rainy day or holiday. She includes a variety of styles and eras.

The key is matching a song’s tempo to different resistance levels and cycling drills like jumps, sprints and climbs.

Some of Amanda’s favorites:

– Fatboy Slim’s “Rockefeller Skank:” great for a build into a steep hill.

– Gloria Estefan’s “Salsa:” a high-energy jump song.

– A remix of Michael Jackson’s “Speed Demon:” perfect for sprinting.
